Classroom Management
Creating a positive, welcoming environment is essential for student success, and I value fostering respect, kindness, and collaboration in my classroom. My management style prioritizes building relationships, clear expectations, and consistent routines that help students feel safe and supported.
To reflect these values, I’ve carefully designed our classroom space to encourage both learning and community. Here are some key features:
- Soft Lighting: I will use alternate lighting such as string lights and warm-toned lamps to create a calming atmosphere that helps students feel at ease.
- Calm-Down Corner: This is a cozy, inviting space equipped with sensory tools and self-regulation activities for students who need a moment to refocus or manage emotions.
- Thoughtful Layout: The classroom is organized to provide clear pathways, accessible materials, and designated areas for group work, independent learning, and quiet reflection.
I also use a variety of strategies to support students:
- Positive Reinforcement: Celebrating positive behavior and achievements
- Restorative Practices: Addressing challenges with empathy and encouraging students to reflect on their actions.
- Morning Meetings: Starting each day with a short meeting to set a positive tone and encourage communication and teamwork.
